What We Do
We are a youth run publication covering sustainability through art and science communications. We are decentering sustainability discourse from the global north to the global south with the focus on India. Our approach is intersectional and we believe in equality, justice and representation of marginalized groups.
Most importantly, we want to make sustainability cool and trendy and make people view the world through a climate lens. We are building a community that is open and inclusive for all, where we can start conversations and have discussions about a variety of topics.

We create shifts in culture, discourse, narratives, and policy through…
Science communication
Humour
Thought Leadership
Youth spotlight
Commentary
Solution-oriented
writing
Local, regional and global context
Intellectual & emotional awareness

,,
When knowledge is hard to access, climate action takes a back seat. We dismantle these barriers to connect with the intellectual and emotional core of our volunteers and readers for climate action.

Problem Tree

In a world where sustainable knowledge has the potential to drive change, significant barriers hinder its accessibility. Essential information often remains locked behind outdated systems, scattered across various platforms, or obscured by complex jargon. Communities face challenges due to limited digitization, while language barriers exclude millions from understanding crucial environmental practices.
Misinformation can proliferate due to a lack of openness, which increases public scepticism and undermines institutional trust. Consequently, society becomes more vulnerable to climate denial, governmental decisions become disenfranchised from scientific facts, and remedies to the climate problem are postponed.
When knowledge is hard to access, action is postponed, leading to detrimental effects on the planet. By dismantling these barriers, we can connect information with impact—ensuring that sustainable knowledge is available to everyone, everywhere.

Our Journey
Talk Dharti To Me is a spin-off of an activism campaign called Minecraft Mumbai (now Coast Custodians). Our campaign aimed to solve the mobility issues of Mumbai through policy solutions and systems change as an alternative to the disastrous coastal road project. We were unsuccessful with our campaign but had amassed a vast volunteer network and campaigning skills.
We reflected on our learnings and found that our campaign was unsuccessful because people were unfamiliar with the concepts of sustainability and climate change. We decided to use our skills and network to build a platform that helps citizens of Mumbai and beyond engage with sustainability meaningfully.
Talk Dharti To Me was established in February 2021.
