I believe most (if not all) forms of activism are rooted in empathy and compassion. The concept of sustainability or sustainable development is based on the ideas of inclusivity and diversity. Although it is important to read theory and have a scientific understanding of sustainability issues, developing solutions to this can only happen when there is an equal amount of emotional investment involved as well.

All over the world it is the poorest and most marginalised communites that bear the brunt of climate change, despite these communties having a very small carbon footprint. Systemic inequalities that already exist are further exarcerbated by climate change. Disasters like floods, droughts, etc lead to a scarcity of resources, in which case the available resources are hoarded by privileged groups and oppressed communities are forced to suffer further. Climate change is not only increasing the population that lives in poverty, but is also worsening the conditions of those living in poverty. A possible solution would be to combat the root of these systemic inequalities along with climate change. It needs to be looked at as a human rights issue, and inclusive climate policies must be adopted.

GDP and GDP growth rate are good indicators of a country’s economic health. GDP per capita indicates the pace of per capita income growth and also the rate at which resources are used up. Although it does not directly measure sustainable development, it is a very important measure for the economic and developmental aspects of sustainable development, including people's consumption patterns. While GDP is a key indicator of the success of SDGs, it does not account for the social and environmental costs of production, making it unfit to measure sustainable development on its own. For GDP to be a successful measurement of SDG success, it must be used in conjunction with other indicators.
