Culture, Arts and Youth Programming at Climate Week India
Dive into youth-led events and climate culture at Climate Week India 2026.
Climate action happens through stories, films, music, art, theatre, workshops, walks, classrooms, community gatherings and conversations between people who may never have called themselves “climate people” before.
That is what makes Climate Week India 2026 particularly interesting. Taking place from 27 September to 4 October, Climate Week India is a community-led platform bringing together events across the country, with the 2026 calendar featuring 132 events at the time of writing. Rather than one central conference, the programme spreads climate conversations across cities, communities, schools, cultural spaces and online platforms.
For Talk Dharti To Me, this is where climate and culture meet. We have curated the events across CWI that explore climate through art and creativity, youth leadership, storytelling, film, culture, community, education, wellbeing, nature and collective action, including all seven Climeets by Talk Dharti To Me.
Whether you want to make a zine, watch an environmental film, walk through your city, listen to climate stories, explore traditional knowledge, engage with young climate voices or simply meet people working on climate, there is a space for you.
Talk Dharti To Me's Climeets
1. Climeet Kolkata - Eco Anxiety Support Group
27 September | 3 PM – 6 PM | Kolkata
Description: Climate conversations can bring up difficult emotions. Heatwaves, floods, deforestation, pollution and constant news about a warming planet can leave people feeling overwhelmed, anxious or uncertain about the future. For Kolkata, Talk Dharti To Me is creating a peer-to-peer eco-anxiety support group, a space to sit with these feelings alongside others who understand them.
The gathering uses a group-sharing format, giving participants an opportunity to talk about their experiences, listen to others and find solidarity in knowing they are not navigating climate-related emotions alone.
A mental health professional will also be present in case of emergencies, but this is not a substitute for professional mental health services. The focus is on creating a safe community space where people can acknowledge difficult feelings and explore ways of navigating them more constructively. The event is ticketed and includes refreshments.

8. Under the Shade of the Mahua

What happens when climate stories are created by children and teenagers themselves?
Under the Shade of the Mahua is a children's art and zine project involving teenagers from tribal regions of Jharkhand and Odisha. The CWI programme includes live classroom zine-making, a digital exhibition, process walkthroughs and opportunities to explore the zines young people have created around their lives and communities. It is a reminder that climate communication does not always need to begin with data. Sometimes, it begins with a drawing.

9. Climate Storytelling
3 October | Agartala
How do we talk about climate change through stories rather than statistics? This youth-focused workshop in Agartala uses storytelling, illustration and creative expression to explore climate change, coexistence and relationships between humans and the more-than-human world. Participants are invited to represent their relationships with forests, rivers, animals, plants and soil.

10. Engotta? (Where to?)
4 October | Thrissur
A gathering of people, puppets and stories. Engotta? uses handmade puppets and theatre to explore the climate realities of the ocean and ask a deceptively simple question: where are we heading? The performance is followed by a sharing session where participants bring their own climate stories into a collective storytelling process.

11. ClimatEd Summit 2026: Envisioning New Pathways for Education
2 October | Bengaluru
The Bengaluru ClimatEd Summit combines a climate art showcase, youth panel, climate games and a workshop on spotting greenwashing and climate misinformation. Young participants get a platform to share their visions for climate-resilient communities, while games and creative activities make climate literacy more interactive.

12. ClimatEd Summit 2026: Kolkata

In Kolkata, ClimatEd takes a hands-on approach with student poster-making workshops, teacher training, an exhibition of the resulting posters, interactive sessions and a theatre presentation. The event puts creative expression at the centre of climate education, allowing students to communicate what climate change means to them rather than simply learning about it as an abstract concept.

13. Climate Change Film Screening and Community Dialogue

A short film becomes the starting point for a conversation about climate change with tribal youth and community members. The screening explores local changes in weather, water, forests, biodiversity, livelihoods and traditional ways of life, followed by an interactive discussion about community-led responses.

Two short environmental documentaries. One evening of conversation. ALT EFF's Climate Week screening at Pune International Centre features Amu Darya: River to the Missing Sea and Stubble: the Farmer's Bane, followed by discussions around the films.

21. Youth Voices in the Climate Space

This gathering brings together young people already engaging with climate issues alongside others who are curious about getting involved. The programme focuses on sharing journeys, exchanging ideas and creating connections between young climate voices.

22. Generations for Climate
27 September | Wayanad
A youth-led programme connecting generations through green storytelling and creative waste-management activities. Students interview farmers, climate experts and senior citizens about how Wayanad's climate, environment and livelihoods have changed across generations. They then turn those stories into short videos while exploring waste through creative reuse and recycling activities.

Tribal youth and children come together to explore forests, traditional knowledge, water, medicinal plants and climate change. The programme creates an intergenerational space where children, youth and elders share knowledge and experiences while discussing practical ways of protecting their environment.

24. Our Traditional Food, Fishing and Changing Climate

Traditional ecological knowledge meets climate conversations. Tribal youth learn from elders about traditional food and fishing practices while exploring how environmental change is affecting biodiversity, livelihoods and knowledge systems.
25. Our Forest, Our Trees: Learning and Traditional Plant Knowledge
29 September | Kerala
Children, young people and community members come together to learn about local trees, forests and traditional medicinal plants. The event connects ecological knowledge passed between generations with conversations about climate and environmental change.
26. Children and Community for Climate Action
1 October | Kerala
A community-based programme bringing children and adults together to talk about environmental changes they are witnessing in their own surroundings. The focus is deliberately local: trees, water, land and nature and the small collective actions communities can take to protect them.
27. Jungle ki Jarurat
30 September | Khaddapani
The Van Gujjar community brings traditional knowledge into the climate conversation. The week-long programme combines community discussions, youth engagement, native plantation and nature-based activities while highlighting the role of pastoral communities in protecting forests, grasslands, water and biodiversity.

28. ClimatEd Summit at The Riverside School

A student-led gathering exploring the connections between everyday choices and climate change. Students and educators come together through a student panel, expert provocation, problem labs, action stations and dialogue, with each participating school invited to leave with a concrete sustainability commitment.

Who is a city actually designed for?
This participatory walk explores how heat, flooding, access and urban planning affect different people differently. A gallery walk, transect walk and collective discussion invite participants to question what gets prioritised in the making of cities and what gets left out.

A nature walk that combines ecological exploration with the city's natural and cultural heritage. Participants map and document what they encounter, building a more experiential relationship with the places they live in.

Urban nature can be easy to overlook. This guided walk invites participants to notice the biodiversity living alongside them from birds and butterflies to plants, insects, wetlands and green spaces while exploring why urban biodiversity matters for heat, air quality, rainwater and climate resilience.

What if solving a city's environmental problems was a game?
Civic Simulation puts participants into a live, collaborative simulation where they negotiate, make decisions and try to solve a real urban problem. It is climate engagement through participation rather than presentation.

35. DIY Mending Workshop of Pre-Loved Clothing
2 October | Chennai
Instead of throwing something away, what if you repaired it?
This hands-on workshop invites participants to bring pre-loved clothes or accessories that need repair and learn simple hand-sewing and mending techniques. It turns circularity into a practical skill and makes sustainability something participants can take home with them.
36. The Weathers of Our Work

What does climate change feel like when you are the person working through it?
This immersive multimedia exhibition explores the experiences of women and gender-marginalised urban development professionals dealing with heat, climate stress, infrastructure pressures and occupational health. The exhibition uses text, voice notes, photographs, video and participatory games to turn research into an experience rather than simply a report.

37. Under the Same Sky

Climate change does not affect everyone in the same way. Under the Same Sky explores how heat and climate change intersect with caste, gender, queerness and health, using lived experiences, storytelling and collective reflection.
