If I had a rupee for every time I ate fries at a restaurant because that was the only vegan option, I’d have enough to start my own vegan restaurant. Such is the dilemma of many vegans in Mumbai, where vegan restaurants are hard to find and the options on menus are limited or not tagged well. Here’s my list of the top 10 vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in the city so your plant-based journey can be easier and tastier.

Vegan

1. Seeds of Life


Seeds of Life is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant with two outlets Pali Hill and Juhu. They offer a large variety of vegan options, have cute interiors and a great ambience. Seeds of life is a perfect spot for lunch with friends or to work from home outside of the home. Must try: ‘Avo’ Great Day (avocado on toast), Meant to ‘Bean’ (mushroom and bean burger), Pumpkin Soup, Call Me Cacao (smoothie)


2. Greenr Cafe


The iconic vegan cafe from Delhi NCR now has a quaint little outlet in Pali Hill, Mumbai. Known for its cosy hole-in-the-wall vibe and creative beverage menu, Greenr cafe is one of the most popular vegan restaurant chains and is loved by vegans all over the country. If you’re looking to take yourself out on a date or have a quiet time with a friend or two, Greenr cafe is the place to be.


Must try: Baja Black Bean Nachos, Plant-Based Gelato, speciality coffees.


3. Farmers Cafe


Farmer's cafe is a charming little cafe in the heart of Khar. Farmer's Cafe is known for its organic, healthy, and farm-to-table cuisine. Choose from a variety of vegan salads, sandwiches, and desserts, all of which can be made gluten-free if desired.

4. Burma Burma


While Chinese, Thai, and Japanese restaurants abound, this is the only one specialising in Burmese cuisine. This restaurant and tea room, which opened in 2014, is located in south Bombay. Despite the fact that Burmese food is predominantly carnivorous, Burma is entirely vegetarian. The restaurant's success stems from its delicious food and attractive decor, but there's more to it than that. If you are a tea enthusiast, you will appreciate their large selection.

5. Sequel


The bar, which has two locations in the city, one each in Kala Ghoda and Bandra, is a crowd favourite for its healthy but delectable menu. The majority of their produce and vegetables are acquired locally from a farm in Pune, maintaining the menu's authenticity. All of their dishes are gluten-free, additive-free, and refined sugar-free, ensuring a clean and pleasant dining experience. The key focus of their ideology is to encourage holistic living by eating clean yet delightful meals.

Vegan friendly 6. Yogisattva



Khar’s beautiful yogi-themed health food cafe serves only vegan and gluten-free food. It also has incredibly indulgent desserts, several takeaway vegan cheese options, and the coolest dish names. It makes for the ideal guilt-free binge with a farm-to-fork philosophy and passionate, knowledgeable staff members.

7. Foo


Foo has long been a popular eatery with lovers of sushi and curries and boasts 4 outlets in Mumbai (Lower Parel, Powai, Bandra West, Churchgate). Its Asian Tapas offering is now complete with vegan and Jain menus of their classic dishes. Pairing the food with one of Foo’s signature cocktails or craft brews makes for a unique culinary experience.

8. Bombay Salad Co


Salads dominate the menu, with some nutritious wraps, sandwiches, juices, and smoothies thrown in for good measure. People are drawn in by the combination of fresh ingredients and creative dressings. 10. Jamjar Diner


Jamjar Diner is a casual eating establishment that specialises in Italian cuisine. It is a popular eatery in Hill Road, Bandra, Versova, Andheri West, and is praised for its prompt service.
